United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has supported the health sector in India for the past 70 years with strategic investments that ensure better health outcomes, particularly for the most unreached. USAID's new model of assistance emphasizes programs, initiatives, and investments that support human dignity and build on the innate desire of every community and country to shape their own future. USAID has reoriented its strategies, partnership models, and program practices to work towards a future when foreign assistance is no longer necessary. It’s called the Journey to Self-Reliance.
This section tells the story of how current USAID/India Health Office investments in the areas of maternal and child health, family planning, health systems, TB and HIV/AIDS support India's journey to self-reliance.
