INDIA LOSES 450,000 LIVES TO TB EVERY YEAR

Let’s eliminate TB by 2025, a full 5 years ahead of the UN Goal.

Home to more TB cases than any other country in the world (over a quarter of the world’s cases), India loses 450,000 people every year to this deadly but curable disease. In addition to its devastating human impact, TB costs the Indian economy billions of dollars in annual losses.

In the workplace, TB causes work flow disruption and lost productivity and endangers the livelihoods of communities by reducing incomes and market size.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has made TB elimination a key component of his ambitious health agenda, increasing the country’s budget for TB by 70 percent and calling for an end to TB by 2025, a full five years ahead of the UN goal.

AN INITIATIVE OF USAID

The Corporate TB Pledge is an opportunity to fight against TB.

The Corporate TB Pledge, a joint initiative of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Government of India gives the private sector an opportunity to join the fight against TB in India.

Private sector entities sign a pledge that commits them to use their resources – human and financial – to combat TB, raise awareness of TB as a curable disease, and ultimately improve TB health outcomes. It recognizes companies for their commitment to ending TB; spurs increased investments in CSR and workforce wellbeing; and links companies with the technical resources they need to better plan and implement TB programs at the workplace and in their communities. Pledge partners get access to a range of technical support and also opportunities to showcase programs in National and International Forums.

If you have not signed the pledge, please join today. For more information, please contact Arvind Kumar at [email protected].
