In pursuit of the Universal Health Coverage goals, the Government of India launched a series of initiatives. This article outlines the initiatives and progress made towards the attainment of the UHC goals through these initiatives. It also emphasizes the need to strengthen the regulatory framework, institutions and public health facilities and to build synergies between the various stakeholders in the healthcare system to prevent demand-side moral hazard and healthcare cost escalations.
