#Launchpad - Reaching the Unreached with RMNCH+A Services:
A Learning Brief on Health Inequity in Select Provinces of India

While efforts in the field of RMNCH+A health service delivery have intensified in recent years, many still remain unreached by these services. This brief uses evidence from the fourth round of the National Family Health Survey (NFHS 2015-16) to understand who remains unreached by key reproductive, maternal and child health services at the national level and in USAID/India Health office priority states. #OutOfTheBox - Leverage Calculator for your Investments

We in the development sector love using the word 'Leverage', but do we know what it means? In grant funding parlance, it’s essentially a way to unlock other available resources. Like other investors, USAID uses Leverage as a tool to channel and generate resources from local economies in which they support development programmes - in USAID terms, Leverage implies unlocking and utilizing non-United States Government (USG) funds for the projects funded by them. But do we all calculate Leverage in the same way?

Here’s a calculator that some of you were a part of developing, and which some of you have tried using, to make the job easier.

Download the Leverage Calculator

You can download the manual for the calculator here and write to [email protected] if you have queries or need support using the calculator.

Health Allocations in the Union Budget

With an increase of 2% over the interim budget, and 15% over last year’s revised allocation to the MoHFW, there seems to be an increased focus on health by the GoI, especially in upgrading public health infrastructure. Read more in this article and this NHM policy brief, and look at health spending in the context of other spends with this helpful budget visualisation tool from the last cycle.
